Our Evaluation Process

A battery of standardized tests help us determine a learning profile, including the student's academic strengths and weaknesses. Our evaluation process has several purposes;  to ensure the student is working at the correct instructional level; to provide effective and targeted instruction; to implement a home program; and to monitor student growth throughout the year. We try to make learning visible for both the student and parent. Individualized learning goals are established with each student and reviewed on a regular basis. Reflection of learning goals is part of our core curriculum.

We believe in frequent skills monitoring. We perform a variety of assessments biweekly, monthly, and quarterly to determine if a child is "at risk" or performing below grade level expectations. Further diagnostic evaluations can be recommended to determine a medical diagnosis. We provide parents with resources and guidance if needed. We do not write formal evaluations or attend school meetings, however, we can recommend professionals that perform these services.

Professional Network

We collaborate with a range of outside providers including Mass General Hospital. If needed, we can  make a referral for more comprehensive testing to better understand your child's cognitive profile. We can refer to a variety of professionals including...

"When progress monitoring is implemented correctly, the benefits are great. Some benefits include accelerated learning because students are receiving more appropriate instruction; more informed instructional decisions; documentation of student progress for accountability purposes; more efficient communication with families and other professionals about students' progress; and higher expectations for students by teachers. Overall, the use of progress monitoring results in more efficient and appropriately targeted instructional techniques and goals."
